IPAF Harness Awareness/User Course Content
Our half day course is aimed at people who need to gain awareness of harness and lanyard safety and learn to carry out their own pre-use check on their harness and use it for work in a MEWP.
The IPAF criteria is supported by major contractors (MCG) and focuses on Regulations & Guidance. It covers fall prevention, work positioning, fall arrest priorities and measures. It also covers legislation and standards, types of harnesses and lanyards, storage, anchor points and risk assessment. I also cover correct fitting of harness and lanyards
It does NOT cover the statutory inspection required by law to inspect the equipment of others which is a different course.
Part of the training shows different types of equipment and what to choose. There is a strong focus on which equipment to use in certain types of MEWPS (mobile elevating work platforms). We also deal with storage and the importance of pre-use checks along with hazards and precautions. There is a pre-use check exercise along with a practical harness fitting assessment. Candidates receive IPAF certificate valid for 5 years.
